Usage Note

Nutriente is invariable for gender (un pasto nutriente, una zuppa nutriente) and takes -i in the plural for all genders (cibi nutrienti). It is also used as a noun in cosmetics (il nutriente idratante = the moisturizing nutrient). Do not confuse with nutritivo, which is a near-synonym but more technical.
