Usage Note

Nuocere is an irregular second-conjugation verb with archaic alternating forms: present nuoccio/nuoci/nuoce/nociamo/nuocete/nuocciono. It takes avere as its auxiliary. The proverb tentar non nuoce ('trying doesn't hurt') is its most familiar appearance. Do not confuse with nuotare ('to swim').
