Usage Note
Nonna is the feminine form; the masculine is nonno ('grandfather'). Together, i nonni means 'grandparents.' The affectionate diminutive nonnina is common. Note that la nonna is used without a possessive pronoun in direct address — Nonna, vieni! rather than mia nonna, vieni!
Examples
"La nonna fa la pasta ogni domenica."
Natural Translation
Grandma makes pasta every Sunday.
