Usage Note
Minchiata is a vulgar Sicilian-origin word, now widespread in informal Italian, for stupid nonsense, a foolish blunder, or worthless rubbish — roughly equivalent to 'bullshit' or 'crap' in register. The plural minchiate is more common. It is highly informal and should not be used in formal or professional settings.
