Usage Note
Medicale is a more technical or bureaucratic variant of medico ('medical'). While medico is the everyday adjective (visita medica, 'medical visit'), medicale appears in professional, institutional, and marketing contexts: dispositivo medicale ('medical device'), personale medicale ('medical staff'). Learners should prefer medico/a in conversation; medicale rarely sounds natural in informal speech.
Examples
"Il dispositivo medicale è certificato."
Natural Translation
The medical device is certified.
