Usage Note

Massoneria refers to Freemasonry as an institution. In Italy, Masonic lodges have had a significant and sometimes controversial role in political and business life — the Propaganda Due (P2) scandal of the 1980s is a well-known example. The adjective is massonico ('Masonic'); a member is massone (m) or massona (f).
