Ivi is an archaic or bureaucratic adverb meaning 'in that place' or 'therein'. It virtually never appears in spoken Italian or modern prose; you will encounter it in legal documents, academic footnotes, and older texts. In legal citations ivi or ivi compreso (therein included) is a fixed phrase. Modern equivalents are lì, là, or in quel luogo.
