Usage Note
Italico can mean 'Italic' in the linguistic/historical sense (referring to the branch of Indo-European languages) or, in a slightly elevated or ironic register, 'Italian' as a people or culture — l'italico genio (the Italian genius). In typography, corsivo is the normal word for italic type; italico is rarely used in that sense in Italian.
