Usage Note

Interrogare means to interrogate (by police or judges) but also, very commonly in Italian school culture, to quiz a student orally in class: il professore mi ha interrogato (the teacher called on me for an oral exam). This oral-exam sense is specific to Italian schools and has no direct English equivalent. Takes avere; regular first conjugation.
