intelligenza

intelligence

noun een-teh-lee-JEN-tsah Rare

Origin: Latin intelligentia (discernment)

Also means

intellect

Usage Note

Intelligenza refers to both natural intellectual ability and, in a modern context, artificial intelligence (intelligenza artificiale). The adjective is intelligente. A false friend alert: it does NOT mean 'intelligence' in the espionage sense — for that, Italian uses i servizi segreti or l'intelligence (borrowed directly from English/French in that context).

Examples

"L'intelligenza artificiale sta cambiando il mondo."

Natural Translation

Artificial intelligence is changing the world.
