Usage Note

Incomprensibile is invariable for gender (un testo incomprensibile, una risposta incomprensibile) and is the negation of comprensibile (understandable/comprehensible). It is used of language, behaviour, or phenomena that cannot be understood — la sua decisione è incomprensibile = his decision is incomprehensible. Do not confuse with incompreso (misunderstood), which implies a failure to be understood by others rather than an inherent quality of the thing itself.
