Usage Note
Incalzare means to pursue closely or to put pressure on someone (incalzare il nemico, to press the enemy hard) as well as to be urgent or imminent (il tempo incalza, time is pressing). In interviews it often means 'to press' a subject with questions. It takes avere as its auxiliary. The image is of treading on someone's heels — calzare relates to footwear.
