Usage Note

Impegnato is the past participle of impegnare used as an adjective. It can mean 'busy' (sono impegnato stasera = 'I'm busy tonight') or 'committed' to a cause (un artista impegnato = 'a politically committed artist'). Do not confuse with impegnativo ('demanding'), which is a different word.

Examples

"Sono impegnato tutto il pomeriggio."

Natural Translation

I'm busy all afternoon.
