Usage Note
Grandine is feminine and invariable in its plural (la grandine / le grandini is rare; in practice the word is usually used as an uncountable mass noun). It refers specifically to hailstones or a hailstorm — a grandinata is the event of hailing. Don't confuse with grondaia (gutter).
