gloria
glory
noun GLOH-ryah Rare
Origin: From Latin gloria (fame, renown), unchanged in form.
Also means
fame
Usage Note
Gloria carries both a secular sense (renown, fame) and a religious one (Glory, as in Gloria in excelsis Deo). As a personal name it is common. The phrase a gloria di means 'to the glory of'. Gloria takes a regular plural glorie, but the singular is far more common. Distinguish from fama (reputation) and onore (honour), which are more neutral in register.
Examples
"Ha conquistato la gloria con il suo talento."
Natural Translation
She achieved glory with her talent.
