Usage Note
Giocata is the nominalisation of giocare (to play) and refers to a single move, play, or stroke in a game; also a bet placed (fare una giocata = 'to place a bet'). In sports commentary it often means a skillful piece of play (una bella giocata = 'a nice move'). Do not confuse with gioco (the game itself) or giocatore (player). Plural: le giocate.
Examples
