Gemellare uses avere as its auxiliary. It means to establish a twinning relationship between two towns, institutions, or groups — gemellare una città (to twin a city). The past participle gemellato is common as an adjective: città gemellate (twin towns). The reflexive gemellarsi means to become twinned.
