Elettrodotto is the technical and legal term for a high-voltage overhead or underground power transmission line. It is a compound of elettro- (electric) + -dotto (conduit, from Latin ductus). In planning and property law, servitù di elettrodotto (power-line easement) gives utilities the right to run lines over private land. The everyday word for the electricity network is rete elettrica.
