Usage Note

Elettorato is a collective noun referring to the body of voters as a whole, treated as singular in Italian: l'elettorato ha scelto (the electorate chose). Do not confuse elettorato with elettore (a single voter) or elezione (election). The adjective elettorale (electoral) is closely related.
