Discusso is the past participle of discutere used as an adjective meaning 'much-debated' or 'controversial'. It should not be confused with the English 'discussed' — un personaggio discusso means 'a controversial figure', not simply 'a discussed one'. The superlative il più discusso ('the most controversial') is very common in journalism.
