Also means
to distinguish
Usage Note
Discriminare most commonly means to treat someone unfairly based on race, gender, religion, or other characteristics — equivalent to English 'to discriminate against'. In a more neutral register it can mean 'to distinguish between', though distinguere is preferred for that sense. It takes avere as its auxiliary.
Examples
"Non bisogna discriminare le persone per la loro origine."
Natural Translation
One must not discriminate against people for their origin.
