dialettica
dialectics
noun dyah-LET-tee-kah Rare
Origin: From Greek dialektikê (the art of discussion), from dialegesthai (to converse).
Also means
argumentation
Usage Note
Dialettica refers to the philosophical method of reasoned argument and debate — most famously in the Hegelian sense of thesis-antithesis-synthesis. In everyday Italian it also means debating skill or rhetorical ability: ha una buona dialettica (she is a good debater). Do not confuse with dialetto (dialect), which is a different word despite the shared root.
Examples
"La sua dialettica ha convinto tutti i presenti."
Natural Translation
Her argumentation convinced everyone present.
