adjective DEH-dee-toh Rare
Origin: Latin deditus (given over to), past participle of dedere.

addicted
Usage Note
Dedito is always followed by a + noun or infinitive — dedito al lavoro (devoted to work), dedito alla droga (addicted to drugs). It never stands alone without the prepositional phrase. The feminine is dedita, plural dediti/dedite. In positive contexts it implies admirable dedication; in negative ones (dedito al vizio) it implies harmful addiction.
