Christendom

noun kree-stya-nee-TAH Rare

Origin: Latin christianitas

Christianity (as a community)

Usage Note

Cristianità denotes the global community of Christian believers taken collectively, or the historical civilisation shaped by Christianity — closer to 'Christendom' than to cristianesimo (Christianity as a doctrine or religion). Like all -tà nouns it is invariable in the plural and almost always used in the singular. It appears frequently in historical and theological writing: tutta la cristianità (all of Christendom).

Natural Translation
