Usage Note
Caviglia (f) takes the regular plural caviglie. A common learner trap: body-part pairs in Italian often use the definite article rather than a possessive — mi sono rotto la caviglia (I broke my ankle), not la mia caviglia. The related verb is slogarsi la caviglia (to sprain one's ankle).
Examples
"Si è slogata la caviglia durante la partita."
Natural Translation
She sprained her ankle during the match.
Literal Translation
Herself is sprained the ankle during the match.
