Usage Note
Bucato refers to the laundry as a load or activity — fare il bucato ('to do the laundry') is the standard phrase. It can also mean the act of washing. Do not confuse with bucato as the past participle of bucare ('pierced, punctured') — same spelling, completely different meaning determined by context.
Examples
"Devo ancora stendere il bucato."
Natural Translation
I still need to hang up the laundry.
