bidet

bidet

noun bee-DEH Rare

Origin: From Latin gremium (lap).

Usage Note

Grembiule is masculine despite ending in -e, so it is il grembiule, i grembiuli. It refers both to a kitchen apron and to the school pinafore (grembiule scolastico) that Italian schoolchildren traditionally wear — a cultural detail with no direct English equivalent. The diminutive grembiulino is used for a small child's smock.

Examples

"Ogni bagno italiano ha il bidet."

Natural Translation
