Usage Note
La bibbia is feminine and written lowercase when referring to a generic authoritative text ('the bible of cooking'). When referring to the sacred scripture it is capitalised: la Bibbia. In colloquial Italian it is often used hyperbolically: questo manuale è la bibbia del falegname ('this manual is the bible of the carpenter').
