anormalità
abnormality
noun ah-nor-mah-lee-TAH Rare
Origin: From 'anormale' (abnormal), from Latin 'abnormis'.
Usage Note
Anormalità is the abstract quality of being abnormal or irregular. Like all -tà nouns it is invariable: un'anormalità / due anormalità. It is used in medical, psychological, and legal contexts. A false-friend caution: Italian anormale and English 'abnormal' align well, but Italian speakers sometimes use anomalia (anomaly) where English would say 'abnormality', making the two words partially interchangeable in practice.
Examples
"I medici hanno rilevato un'anormalità nel referto."
Natural Translation
The doctors detected an abnormality in the report.
