Origin: Latin verax, veracis, truthful

true

Usage Note

Verace means authentically genuine, unadulterated, or true to origin — often used of people with a frank, unpolished character or of food that is made in the traditional way (pizza verace). Unlike vero (true), verace stresses authenticity and lack of artifice. It is also an old literary word for 'truthful' in formal prose.
