ufficialmente

officially

adverb oof-fee-chahl-MEN-teh Less Common

Usage Note

Ufficialmente marks statements or actions that have been formally recognised or declared. Non è ancora ufficialmente confermato means 'it has not yet been officially confirmed'. It contrasts with ufficiosamente (unofficially) and informalmente (informally). The double f and the ch spelling (= 'k' sound) are frequent stumbling blocks for learners.

Examples

"La notizia è stata ufficialmente confermata."

Natural Translation

The news has been officially confirmed.
