Usage Note
Trapelare describes information or light seeping through a barrier or gap — used both literally (light filtering through shutters) and figuratively (news leaking to the press). It is intransitive and takes essere as its auxiliary in compound tenses: è trapelata la notizia ('the news has leaked out').
