tipo
type
noun TEE-poh Common
Origin: From Greek typos (impression, model) via Latin typus.
Also means
guy, fellow
Usage Note
Tipo in formal Italian means a type or kind (che tipo di problema? = what kind of problem?). Informally it means 'guy' or 'bloke': un tipo strano = a strange guy. The feminine tipa (informal: girl, woman) is colloquial. Using tipo as a filler word ('like' in English) is very common in youth speech but informal.
