Spontaneo agrees in gender and number: un gesto spontaneo (m), una reazione spontanea (f). In Italian it can describe a person's manner ('he is very natural/unaffected') as well as physical phenomena like combustione spontanea ('spontaneous combustion'). The adverb form is spontaneamente.
