Usage Note
Solforoso describes something containing sulfur in a lower oxidation state, as in acido solforoso (sulfurous acid, H₂SO₃). It is a technical/scientific adjective. Do not confuse with solforico (acido solforico = sulfuric acid, H₂SO₄), which is the stronger, more oxidized compound.
