sleale

disloyal

adjective zleh-AH-leh Rare

Also means

unfair

Usage Note

Sleale combines s- (privative prefix) + leale (loyal). In commercial law, concorrenza sleale (unfair competition) is a key legal concept. In interpersonal contexts it means treacherous or disloyal. The noun form is slealtà. Note that the 'sl-' cluster is pronounced with a voiced 'z' glide before the 'l': the 's' is not the same as in sale.

Examples

"È stato sleale nei confronti del suo socio."

Natural Translation

He was disloyal towards his business partner.
