Usage Note

Sgradevole is invariable for gender (un sapore sgradevole, un'esperienza sgradevole) but changes for number (sgradevoli). It is a formal register alternative to the more colloquial brutto or fastidioso. The antonym is gradevole (pleasant). A learner false-step: it describes sensory or experiential unpleasantness, not moral ugliness (use riprovevole for that).
