Usage Note

Sedia refers to an ordinary chair with a back. A poltrona is an armchair; a sgabello is a stool. The plural is sedie. The compound sedia a rotelle means wheelchair, and sedia a dondolo means rocking chair. Don't confuse sedia with sede (f) which means headquarters or seat (of an institution).
