Usage Note

Scaricare is the opposite of caricare (to load/upload). In technology, scaricare un file means to download a file; in physical contexts it means to unload cargo (scaricare il camion) or to discharge a battery (la batteria si è scaricata = the battery died). It takes avere as auxiliary; the reflexive scaricarsi = to run out of charge.
