Also means
behind-the-scenes details
Usage Note
Retroscena (m) literally means the space behind the stage, but it is most commonly used figuratively to mean the hidden background or behind-the-scenes workings of a situation — i retroscena di uno scandalo (the behind-the-scenes details of a scandal). Crucially, retroscena is invariable in the plural: il retroscena / i retroscena (not retroscene).
