Usage Note
Regolante is the present participle of regolare ('to regulate') used as an adjective or in compound nominal phrases: l'autorità regolante ('the regulating authority'). It is less common than the noun regolatore or the adjective regolatorio. In legal and institutional Italian it functions much like 'regulating' or 'governing' in English technical texts. Agreement follows the noun it modifies.
Examples
"L'organo regolante ha approvato le norme."
Natural Translation
The regulating body approved the rules.
