Usage Note

Recita refers to a theatrical or school performance, or to the act of reciting; it is distinct from spettacolo (show) in that it often implies a stage production at school, an amateur theatre piece, or a poetry recital. The word also appears in recita scolastica (school play). Do not confuse it with recitazione (acting, the art of acting) or with the verb recitare (to act, to recite).
