raddrizzare
to straighten; to set right
verb rahd-dreet-TSAH-reh Rare
Origin: From ri- (again) + addrizzare, from Latin directus (straight).
Also means
to correct; to fix
Usage Note
Raddrizzare means to make something physically straight again (raddrizzare un chiodo storto — to straighten a bent nail) or figuratively to correct a bad situation. The doubled 'd' is held. The reflexive raddrizzarsi means to straighten up or stand up straight. Do not confuse with correggere (to correct errors) which is the preferred choice for textual or procedural mistakes.
Examples
"Ha raddrizzato il quadro storto sul muro."
Natural Translation
She straightened the crooked painting on the wall.
