Polo has several meanings: a geographical or magnetic pole (Polo Nord = North Pole), a centre of attraction or economic hub (polo industriale = industrial hub), and the sport of polo. The plural is i poli. In modern Italian business language polo is popular for clusters or centres of excellence. Do not confuse with pollo (chicken), which has a double 'l'.
