Also means
to cycle
Usage Note
Pedalare means to pedal a bicycle or other pedal-powered vehicle. It takes avere as auxiliary when used transitively, but is often used intransitively in Italian with avere as well (ho pedalato per un'ora). The noun pedale (pedal) is the base. Figuratively, pedalare can mean to work hard or struggle ('to slog away').
Examples
"Pedalare in montagna è molto faticoso."
Natural Translation
Cycling in the mountains is very tiring.
