né
neither … nor
conjunction neh Common
Origin: From Latin nec (and not, nor), contracted form.
Also means
nor
Usage Note
Né (always written with a grave accent to distinguish it from the clitic ne) links two negative alternatives: né… né… = 'neither… nor…'. When used with né… né…, the verb does not need a separate non: non parla né italiano né spagnolo or the doubled-subject form né lui né lei capisce. Without the accent, ne is a pronoun/adverb meaning 'of it/them' or 'from there' — a completely different word.
Examples
"Non mi piace né il caffè né il tè."
Natural Translation
I like neither coffee nor tea.
Literal Translation
Not to-me pleases neither the coffee nor the tea.
