Meglio is the irregular comparative adverb of bene ('well'). As an adverb it modifies verbs: stai meglio? ('are you feeling better?'). It also functions as an invariable adjective or noun: il meglio ('the best'). Do not confuse with migliore, which is the comparative adjective ('a better book' = un libro migliore).
