mediare

to mediate

verb meh-DYAH-reh Rare

Origin: From Latin 'mediare' (to be in the middle).

Also means

to broker

Usage Note

Mediare uses the auxiliary avere. It describes the role of a third party facilitating an agreement — mediare un accordo (to broker a deal), mediare tra le parti (to mediate between the parties). The related noun mediatore (m) / mediatrice (f) means mediator or broker. It is more formal than fare da tramite (to act as a go-between).

Examples

"Ha cercato di mediare tra i due fratelli."

Natural Translation
