magro
thin
adjective MAH-groh Rare
Origin: Latin macer, 'lean, thin.'
Also means
lean
Usage Note
Magro can describe a person's build (una persona magra, a thin person) or food (carne magra, lean meat). As a false-friend warning, it does not mean 'meagre/poor' in the financial sense — use scarso or misero for that. It follows regular adjective agreement: feminine magra, plural magri/magre.
Examples
"Il gatto è molto magro."
Natural Translation
The cat is very thin.
