Usage Note

Lett as it appears in Italian texts is almost always a truncated or abbreviated form; the full word is letti (plural of letto, bed) or the past participle of leggere (to read). In formal documents letti may be abbreviated to lett. before listing cited articles or pages. As the plural of letto it is regular and masculine.
